Holly Marie Combs has made startling accusations during her appearance on Shannen Doherty’s podcast, asserting that Alyssa Milano played a role in Doherty’s dismissal from Charmed.
Combs disclosed that she had a conversation with producer Jonathan Levin, who informed her that Milano had allegedly compiled a case of uncomfortable incidents and threatened to sue over a hostile work environment. According to Combs, Levin stated, “‘We didn’t mean to — but we’ve been backed into this corner — we’re basically in this position where it’s one or the other.’ He revealed that Alyssa had insisted it’s either her or Shannen and had threatened legal action for a hostile workplace.”
Despite being one of the few stars to remain on Charmed for all eight seasons, Combs claimed she never witnessed any animosity or public conflicts among Milano, Doherty, and herself. In a gesture of solidarity, Combs offered to resign if Doherty was let go, emphasizing, “This is not a show I wanted to do without Shannen. She didn’t want to do it without me. Therefore, I don’t want to do it without her, and that should be fairly clear.”
Allegedly, Levin responded by threatening to sue Combs, prompting her to characterize the situation as “blackmail.”
Doherty, who was 30 when her character Prue was written off, reflected on the events, spending a year trying to find instances of her own misconduct but coming up empty. She stated, “I don’t ever remember being mean to her on set. I remember an episode I directed where she did something on the Christmas break, and they asked me to work around some things with her, and I had no problem with it. I couldn’t have been more kind and understanding.” Expressing regret, she added, “I definitely would’ve sued, and I would’ve been honest about the situation because the rumors followed me regardless.”
