Amid the ongoing Solana meme-coin craze, a trader has managed to turn an initial investment of $226,000 into a staggering sum of well over $1.6 million by speculating on a token featuring a dog with a beanie as its mascot.

Between December 13 and 15, the trader acquired more than 19 million Dogwifhat (WIF) tokens, a meme coin themed around dogs, as it made its debut on the Solana network. According to blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain, the trader purchased these tokens at an average price of $0.01137. The current total value of the tokens stands at approximately $1.69 million, resulting in a remarkable profit of about $1.47 million in just five days.

The Solana ecosystem has experienced a fresh surge of interest, leading to substantial gains for memecoins based on the network. On December 8, another dog-themed meme coin called Bonk (BONK) rose to become the third-largest meme coin by market capitalization, joining the ranks of other dog-themed meme coins like Shiba Inu.

Bonk’s price witnessed a remarkable surge of 370% in the 30 days leading up to December 11, soaring from $0.0000028 to $0.00002 at the time of reporting. This surge outpaced the growth of other notable dog memecoins like SHIB and DOGE, which experienced a 20% and 35% increase, respectively, during the same period.

The popularity surrounding Bonk also had a positive impact on the sales of Solana’s Saga mobile phone. Following its launch, owners of the Solana Saga phone received a generous airdrop of 30 million units of the Bonk meme coin. As the token’s value increased, users seized the opportunity to profit by acquiring the phone and subsequently selling the airdropped tokens. The synergy between meme coins and technology products within the Solana ecosystem reflects the dynamic and speculative nature of the current cryptocurrency landscape.
